What to know this week in the Quiet Corner, delivered every Monday. For local media, organizations and businesses: our mission, the towns we cover, how we track what's happening, and how to work with us.
One file with everything on this page — mission, towns, sourcing, and sponsorship.
The Quiet Corner Brief is hyperlocal by design. Not regional headlines, not wire copy — the farmers markets, workshops and talks, family events, music and arts, town meetings, outdoor days and bakeries that make up an actual week in northeastern Connecticut.
Most of this already exists somewhere: a flyer on a corkboard, a post in a town Facebook group, a PDF buried three clicks into a town website. It scrolls past and it's gone. We gather it all in one place, on one site, where it stays findable — no algorithm deciding whether you see it, no doomscrolling to reach it.
One issue, every Monday. Every listing opened and verified before it's published, and anything we couldn't confirm is marked as unconfirmed rather than guessed at.
Every town has its own page with events, markets, local businesses and a month calendar.
Corrections are welcome and we publish them. Report a correction.
Sponsors get a plain monthly summary of how their section performed. We publish real numbers only — no estimates, no inflated reach.
Five spots, one business each. No banners, no pop-ups — your name and link sit on the section readers already use, and the editorial picks stay ours.

Any local business, market or organization can be listed at no cost. Free listings and sponsored placements are always labelled so readers know the difference.
Plenty of good local businesses have no website, or one that never surfaces in search. A listing here gives them a findable page tied to their town.
Tell people how you started, what you make, and why it's worth the drive. That's the part a directory listing never carries.

We run Facebook and Google ads pointing at the Brief, so listings and sponsored spots get in front of people who don't already follow you.
