Plainfield voters approve $250,000 to fight the proposed waste facility

Plainfield voters approved $250,000 for legal opposition to the proposed Smart Technology solid-waste facility, 770 to 90. The money pays for the town to make its case in the state process; the decision on the facility itself still rests with state regulators, so the vote neither approves nor denies the project. A public informational meeting is set for September 30.
